Food certificate sanitation exam proctoring is offered onsite
(2-hour timed sessions).  
We coordinate with attendees to schedule individualized or small group proctored exam sessions (as few as 1 - 5 attendees), with flexibility to determine a mutually convenient location, date and time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will classes be held?   How do I schedule my proctored exam session?
  • After purchasing your session, contact our office to schedule a mutually beneficial time.  Options are generally flexible to accommodate busy schedules.  
How do I register and how will I receive a purchase confirmation?
  • Click the register link on this page.  Upon completion of payment, an automatic receipt will sent to you by email.  Retain it for your records. We will also have a file of your registration on the day of the class.
Is parking available?
  • Yes, free on-street parking is available.
Are registrations refundable?
  • Purchased registrations are not refundable or transferable, so be sure to choose the date that best corresponds with your time availability. 
Should I bring anything the day of the class?
  • Be sure to bring a valid legal photo identification to verify your registration.  Forms of identification consist of a state photo identification or driver's license. You must also bring your own laptop device.  
What is the duration of the session?
  • The class is 2 hours in length and it is timed.  Your exam results will be available the same day and only after you have submitted it.​
Is it true that food handlers who are serving food at any outdoor event (whether produced by the City of Chicago or a private entity) need to have the Summer Food Festival Sanitation Certificate?
  • Yes.  It is a public safety requirement for anyone handling and serving time and temperature controlled food safely in outdoor settings to the general public.  At least one PIC (person in charge) with the certificate must be present.
What is your policy on attendee arrival times and cellphone usage?
  • There is a 15-minute grace period.  Arrival beyond this allotted timeframe requires that  the attendee reschedule for a future date.  Electronic devices/cell phones are not allowed while courses are being administered.  
Do you be offering classes for the Sanitation Manager certificate as well as the Food Handler certificate?  
  • Yes.  We are available to schedule individual or group sessions that are held on-site.
How will I obtain access to any online courses that I have purchased?
  • Within 24 hours of purchase, you will be emailed Zoom login information.  Your uninterrupted onscreen/unmuted attendance is mandatory to earn your certificate, as courses are interactive.
