This class is offered ONSITE and is a City of Chicago requirement for food managers.
The Food Protection Manager Certification + exam (8-hour, 1-day course). Curriculum is qualified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). It is a 6-hour course and 2-hour exam. We coordinate with attendees to schedule individualized or small group instruction (as few as 1 - 5 attendees), with flexibility to determine a mutually convenient date and time at our local facility or yours.

- Our in-person individual and small group classes are held at one of a number of local network sites that are easily accessible by public transportation and/or have free on-street parking. We offer flexibility to attendees when coordinating the best nearby location, and a suitable date and time once their registration is completed. We can also make arrangements for individual or group classes at their organizational locations.
How do I communicate my preferred date(s) and time(s) and how will it be confirmed?
- During the checkout process you are asked to provide preferred multiple dates and times. You'll be contacted immediately to schedule the most convenient option.

How do I arrange this?
- You can contact us at anytime via phone or email to make an arrangement for us to facilitate a workshop at your location and to process payment for your group. Feel free to call or submit an email to [email protected] or 312-725-0462.
What is the minimum number of students to qualify for a discounted group session?
- Six (6) registered people will qualify your institution for a group discount of 5%.
Are registrations refundable or transferrable?
- Purchased registrations are not refundable or transferable, so be sure to choose the date that best corresponds with your time availability to avoid day-of non-attendance.
Can classes be rescheduled?

What is your policy on attendee arrival times and cellphone usage?
- There is a 15-minute grace period. Arrival beyond this allotted timeframe requires that the attendee make arrangements for no more than 1 rescheduling on a future date. Electronic devices/cell phones are not allowed while courses are being administered.
- After adding a product(s) to the cart and completing payment, an automatic receipt will be sent to you by email. Retain it for your records. We will also have a file of your registration on the day of the class.
Should I bring anything the day of the class?
- Be sure to bring a valid legal photo identification to verify your registration. Accepted forms of identification consist of a state photo identification or driver's license. For courses where an exam follows, you MUST bring your own laptop.
- The Food Manager Certification class is 8 hours in length (6-hour workshop and 2-hour exam). It is a mandatory license for individuals who intend to operate a food service establishment as the person in charge (PIC). Because the session requires great time commitment, we suggest that you arrive rested, alert and prepared to receive the curriculum. Any related exams will follow the coursework.
- A projection screen (Flat screen television/projector and screen, with wireless connection capability).
- Reliable internet connection.
- Laptop for each student for administration of the post-workshop exam.
- A table or individual desks with space between each attendee to ensure privacy during exam administration.
- Quiet and clean environment. Well lit with comfortable temperature.
When will I receive my certificate?
- Certificates will be made available electronically for exams that are successfully passed. Once exams close they are immediately graded, and certificates can be downloaded and printed.
- This additional certificate is a local requirement of City of Chicago which certifies that you are aware of and understand the local health code. You will need to simply apply what is called "reciprocity." Do this in 1 of 2 ways:
- Filing it yourself by submitting a few required documents that you have on hand and pay the application fee of approximately $52. There is no required exam. Learn more and apply here: Apply for your City of Chicago reciprocal certificate. Your certificate will be mailed directly by the City of Chicago Department of Public Health. Allow 2 - 4 weeks for processing.
- As an option, we can facilitate filing of your City of Chicago manager's certificate application for you. When you enroll in our manager's certificate course, you can simply add this filing fee on to your purchase here. Your certificate will be mailed directly by the City of Chicago Department of Public Health. Allow 2 - 4 weeks for processing.
- Yes, you can re-take it. We can make arrangements for the purchase and online administration of a new online exam for $50.00. You will need to purchase a new exam each time you need to retest. You can take the examination twice within 30 days. If you don't pass the exam on your 2nd attempt, then it is required that you wait 60 days from your most recent attempt before you take the exam once more. There are no more than 4 attempts allowed with a 12-month period.
